WrapSesh YouTube Review
For a little while now I have been following a YouTube channel called WrapSesh. It was started in 2016 by Michael and Jess and they are based in Arizona. They release weekly videos detailing what they are working on as well as what is happening behind the scenes for their business. They give some great insights into the hard work that is required to run a wrap shop as well as show some great tutorials with good explanations. They have a good attention to detail and a real emphasis on quality which is why the have been so successful in a short amount of time.
Some of my recommended videos to watch are below:
Door Handles 2 different ways
This video shows a couple of ways to wrap a door handle and hide the seam on the back so it appears seamless. You can also see how using knifeless tape can avoid any need for cutting directly on the handle with a blade.
Wrapping a hinge on a Jeep
A cool insight on how to tackle intricate hinges and the patience required.
Freehand Hood Stripes
Some good tips here on measuring and laying knifeless tape to get perfectly straight custom stripes and also mention how it’s actually easier to install custom stripes instead of pre cut kits.
Mirror caps
In this video I like how after laying down the vinyl on the mirror, Michael trims off most of the excess and then releases the edges before using heat to relax the film to relieve tension. This is a slightly different technique to what you mostly see in other videos where the excess is held up with one hand while heating the film to relax it onto the edge.
Door Jambs
A really good insight on how much work goes into wrapping door jambs and also tips on how to use seams on the bodywork to hide seams with the vinyl.
Brushed Metal Wrap and how to seam a hood
Tips on directional materials and how they should be handled as they are more sensitive to stretching than normal gloss vinyl. There is also a good bit where Michael shows how to do a large hood in 3 pieces joined with butt seams and then a 4th piece over the top to hide the seams, which he calls a “Fuse”.
